Hats off to Dad Rackley!

In: Family Snapshots

We’re still working on our Backwater Way house – it’s been a project of love since two weeks ago tomorrow. The most difficult of all the projects though, was completed today. The prefinished floors are laminate – as much as we’d like to say they’re hardwood – but at about $1.00 cheaper per square foot, and a LOT easier to install ourselves, it was the best choice for us. And to the untrained, unprofessional eye, they might even pass as hardwood! The benefit, though, is that we don’t have to worry about cleaning up messes like we would if it were carpeted. And since the rest of the house is carpeted with brand new carpet (installed Monday), it’s nice to have a room that we can RELAX with our cokes in – much to my husband’s excitement!

Chris’ dad today put in about 8 hours to help get these floors finished. He did a great job and deserves the comfortable bed he’s sleeping in now. It was great to be able to spend some good quality time with him. Now, we just have to clean up the baseboards, and get those nailed in, touch up some painting mistakes (mine, of course!), and get our stuff moved in! (Did I mention the water heater that caught on fire?)

Moving in to a foreclosed home has been a labor of love – let me emphasize labor – but we’re so thankful for what the Lord has blessed us with, and for the wonderful help we’ve had! Thanx a bunches, Dad Rackley!
