11 Weeks – (and the start of a baby journal)

In: Celebrating Our Little One

In case you haven’t heard the news – (or in case you just wanna see something that’ll make you laugh harder than you have all week…) – see this video starring my 2 little kiddos. πŸ™‚

I wanted to keep a little journal of how things were going. Partly because I haven’t done it before. And because I need to keep good records for my own curiosity’s and health’s sake. With my last two pregnancies, I’ve suffered through preeclampsia. With this happening twice in two pregnancies, my odds of becoming preeclamptic again are pretty high – close to the 95% range. The biggest indicators being weight gain, blood pressure readings, and swelling. (I had to get my rings cut off with my last pregnancy! That hurt (my heart!) Β almost as bad as labor did!)

So here we go. (Keep in mind this is about a week old. I just couldn’t post it until we had let the cat out of the bag!)

How far along? 11 weeks 5 days
Total weight gain/loss: 2-3 lbs. I’m on that scale every day and it hasn’t really budged much in the last 6 weeks. (I kinda went a little crazy with ice cream in the first 3 weeks, though. haha!)
Maternity clothes? Not yet and hopefully not for a while! I am looking forward to fall time and velour pant sets, though.
Sleep: I’m exhausted. But usually not until around 2:00 until about 7:00. I almost fell asleep at my 3:45 dr.’s appt while he was drawing blood. (talk about a “I’ve been here, done this before” kinda mom.) I’m on hormone supplements as well, though, to keep this pregnancy viable and the side effects are fatigue and nausea. That’s nice. You know, compounded fatigue and nausea.
Best moment this week:Β Hearing the tiniest of heartbeats with my husband and my two girls. We were all so excited to “listen to that baby swimmin’ around in there!” as Chloe says.
Have you told family and friends: A few close friends who helped pray me through my miscarriages and a few family members. They rest will all find out Saturday. πŸ™‚
Movement: not yet
Food cravings: no bake cookies one day; pimento cheese and crackers another; and cold WATERMELON!!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: yes! Strong smells – even my favorite apple cider candle turned me stomach. It’s especially bad in the afternoons and evenings.
Have you started to show yet: just a little bit, might be from eating though.
Gender prediction: Maybe a boy. Only because I’m not puking as much as I was with the girls. But that’s the only reasoning I have for saying it. Although I like our girl name much better than our boy name.
Labor Signs: NO
Belly Button in or out? IN
Wedding rings on or off? ON – Still on the right hand too! (That’s my bigger hand, and my rings haven’t been resized since I lost 30 pounds in the spring. So, they’re still too big for my left hand. Maybe I’ll be able to wear them the whole time this pregnancy?
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy usually, but kinda sad when I’m tired or sick.
Weekly Wisdom: If you’re ever wanting to get pregnant – pick a great guy. My house would have fallen apart the last few weeks without him to cover for what I couldn’t pull off!
Milestones: baby is as big as a plum!

Exercise:Β Haven’t in a few weeks. I haven’t even felt up for grocery shopping in a few weeks. But hopefully next week I’ll get back on that treadmill. I have a 5K coming up!

Thanks Pam for your sweet words. I’ll keep cooking – but I can’t help but talk about the pregnancy, either. We’re just so excited about it! πŸ™‚
